A child died and two other people were hospitalized after a house fire Monday night in the 800 block of Tilden Road, south of Galena.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal's Office was asked to assist the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District with the investigation, according to Mike O'Connell, communications director the Missouri Department of Public Safety. O'Connell said a juvenile died at the scene and a woman and a second juvenile were taken to a hospital.
Relatives have identified the family to Springfield television station KY3 as Angela Beck and her two sons. The Stone County Coroner's Office has not publicly confirmed the identity of the child who died, and StoneCounty.news is not naming him pending that confirmation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
